Das schreibt Wikipedia - Uriah Heep ist eine britische, progressive Hardrock-Band, benannt nach einer Figur aus dem Roman David Copperfield von Charles Dickens. Gemeinsam mit Black Sabbath, Deep Purple und Led Zeppelin zählen Uriah Heep zu den frühen und erfolgreichsten Vertretern des Hardrock. Im Unterschied zu vielen anderen Interpreten des Genres gewichten Uriah Heep in einem Teil ihrer Werke die melodische und romantische Seite des Hardrocks durch ihren ausgefeilten, oft mehrstimmigen Gesang stärker. Uriah Heep haben bis heute über 30 Millionen Tonträger verkauft.
Auf dem Hessentag 1970 in Wiesbaden begenete mir diese Band das erste Mal. Ich war damals gerade 12 Jahre alt. Der Sound der Hammond Orgel des Keyboarders Ken Hensley beindruckte mich dermassen, dass ich, der bis dato brave Orgelschüler eines renomierten Wiesbadener Pianohaus, seine Hammond aufschraubte und durch Drehen an diversen Reglern diesen tollen röhrigen Sound nachahmen konnte. Sehr zum Entsetzen meiner Eltern.
Meine eher bescheidene musikalische Karriere wurde durch die Musik von Heep geprägt. Einige Titel wurden in den Anfängen nachgespielt, viele eigene Kompositionen liesen ohne Zweifel den Einfluß von Uriah Heep erkennen.
Es dauerte bis zum Jahr 1979, da sah ich Heep auf einem Open Air in Pforzheim, damals mit Sänger John Lawton, ein zweites Mal. Nun hatte mich die "Heeperie" endgültig gepackt und ich musste diese Band fortan immer wieder live sehen. Und Uriah Heep live ist auch heute noch ein wahnsinns Erlebnis. Unzählige Heep-Konzerte in Deutschland, Belgien, England und Dänemark folgten. Highlits dabei waren sicher das Heavy Sound Open Air, Anfang der 80 er mit dem Sänger Peter Goalby in Brügge, sowie ein Familien Open Air im Freibad von Kelkheim am Taunus, bei welchem auch meine damals noch recht jungen Töchter mit dabei waren.
Natürlich hatte ich auch oft eine Kamera dabei und auch viele Bilder von UH gemacht, doch, das war alles noch zur analogen Zeit. In der Menge meiner Dias und Papierbilder findet sich gelegentlich mal ein Konzertbild von UH, mehr nicht.
Das nahm ich nun zum Anlass endlich auch einmal die klassisch professionellen Konzertfotos von Uriah Heep zu machen. Im Rahmen die Frühjahrstour 2012 war es dann soweit. Die ersten digitalen Fotos von Uriah Heep.
